Project Description
URBAN ATHLETEDEEP HEAT SAMANTHA HOGG
34 year old single mom, Samantha Hogg, has always been passionate about cheerleading.
“I absolutely love fitness and healthy lifestyle choices! I believe it is the key to having a balanced life; and is something I try to instil in my own children now. I think too many children are not taught from a young age that keeping healthy and fit is part of life in general and that’s why so many adults struggle to make time for it. It is something that should be taught as part of everyday life from childhood!” exclaims Samantha.
“For me, I honestly just love doing stunts! It is so fun to be up in the air and performing all those moves and being part of a team. There is nothing better than the feeling of hitting a move you have been working and training so hard to get! The nerves of walking out onto competition field and the exhilarating feeling when you hit all your stunts is an amazing! Being part of a team and sharing when we hit everything or even when something falls! The trust between a cheer team is not like any other sport.”
Samantha has always loved kids and Cheerleading so becoming a Coach just made logical sense for her, thus she started Tumbling Stars for children aged 2 to 6 years old and Cheer Stars for kids aged 6 and up. “I really love all the kids that are in all our different teams, they are all so unique and I feel truly blessed that part of my job is to be part of these children lives and hopefully be a positive influence to them. Sport has the ability to give you so much confidence, which makes me so proud to see so many of our children come in as shy and timid and then go out to perform incredible stunts in front of crowds of people and really feel good about themselves. Especially for the girls, Cheerleading gives them a feeling of empowerment and makes them feel strong!”
Samantha has been able to turn her passion for Cheerleading into a thriving business and at the same time building a love for the sport in a new generation of kids in South Africa.
